San Antonio's Local 142 is one of 300 locals that are part of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada. The United Association is a multi-craft union whose members are engaged in Plumbing, Pipefitting, Welding, and HVAC. There are roughly 350,000 highly-skilled United Association members who belong to regional local unions across North America.

Local 142's members have worked on a variety of projects throughout our geographical area. Our plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC techs and welders have built, repaired, or renovated many of San Antonio's past and present landmarks as well as some of it's future historical structures.  Our members have built community, convention, sports,  and vistor attractions such as the Alamodome, A.T. & T. Center, Convention Center, Fiesta Texas and Sea World. In the public sector we have worked at the City, County, State and Federal offices. San Antonio's military installations have provided work for our members and have received the benefit of our experienced, skilled and talented craftsmen. Industry has benefited from the experience and talent of our members. Chip plants to automobile manufacturing, and food processing to pharmaceuticals. Maxum to Toyota, and Frito-Lay to DPT Labs are examples of the work done by Local 142 members and their affiliated contractors.

First chartered in February 18,1895, Local 142 has been a part of the San Antonio area for over a 127 years. We have over 1100 members and many signatory contractors, working together to provide safe water systems, medical gas piping systems, sanitary piping, and process systems that produce products for many markets. We also have a local presence in the HVAC industry. Our work include the installation, service and repair of  small rooftop systems to large central plants for refrigeration, chilled water and steam.
